The "Skinny" on both -
Torchy's Tacos - Multiple Locations
Torchy's was the game changer that put the crazy, tasty gluttonous taco on the map. It started as a trailer back before people knew what food trailers were and then, boom, the rest is history. Torchy's makes the kitchen sink of tacos. They combine a range of different ingredients, throw in an assortment of sauces, and then add on some shredded cheese to boot. It hits you right in the gut and puts a smile on your face every time. Torchy's also has a queso that is filled with more than just cheese: some diablo sauce, guacamole, queso fresco. It is so good. SHHHHH but Torchys also has a secret menu because the initial menu did not have enough options. And each month there is NEW "Taco of the Month" to further add to your decision matrix.". Torchy's is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the original trailer location can be found on South First.
Taco Deli - Multiple Locations
Taco Deli has more of a "tacos like grandma made them" (if you grew up with an abuela) but the most amazing tacos any grandma could have ever make. Each taco on the menu has a specially cured meat/veggie, delicately topped with a combination of vegetables and cheeses. The taco is always tender and juicy, sending you into a little place of heaven. Taco Deli also boasts a breakfast menu of delectable tacos that will kick your day off right. At 10:30 the line will be out the door but worth it. Austin's sub-par "Brunch Scene" is overpowered by an amazing breakfast taco scene. Honestly, there has never been a place where every menu item might be better than the next. The key to Taco Deli is to try their award winning Dona sauce and remember it closes at 3pm....so don't over sleep.
